Amirul, a Superhost, went above and beyond for his community when a gas pipeline explosion caused a fire that displaced more than 500 people, injured 150, and destroyed 81 homes in Putra Heights, Malaysia.He and his family were celebrating the second day of Eid when the explosion occurred.

Though they managed to evacuate safely, they lost their home. Amirul received free, emergency housing through Airbnb.org. Many of his neighbors were in a shelter nearby. Despite his own injuries, Amirul showed up for local community meetings to help share information about the Airbnb.org program and help others receive free, temporary housing Airbnb.org provided free, emergency housing to more than 400 people.
